Optimum Security Services provides large scale security services for pubs, clubs, the film industry and sporting events.
The ethos behind Nathan’s business is quality over quantity and he ensures that every member of his team undergoes training in vital areas such as first aid, team building, customers service, communication and problem solving. The business is based in Penzance, Cornwall but operates across the UK.
The challenges that Nathan faced before approaching Business West included needing to have a clear direction to take his business; finding funding avenues that would help kick his business off and allow him to take it where he dreamed; and finding the confidence to launch his business alone after being made redundant for the second time.
The Start & Grow programme provided Nathan with the help and support which he needed to feel confident when starting his venture. The team helped Nathan develop detailed business and financial plans which allowed him to successfully secure a SWIG startup loan of £9,900. The financial boost has allowed Optimum to start the process to apply to become a SIA Approved Contractor. The qualification leads to allowing Nathan to employ his first full time members of staff 2 people on PAYE contracts.
Nathan Oldfield is a client of Business West, supporting business startups in the South West. Under the Start & Grow initiative, Nathan received 27 hours of support. The business has created 2 additional jobs and has raised finance of £9,900.
